Skippers Log – Spring edition
Winter is finally over and spring is here, boating season is just around the corner! The board has been busy planning this year’s activities and implementing our website. To date we have 3 shows planned; Lake St Louis, Carlyle Lake, Quincy IL. and two outings; our Annual Picnic at the Village of the Rose and the Christmas Party and Awards Dinner at JJ’s in O’Fallon Mo. Be sure to review the schedule for details.
I hope everyone has had the opportunity to see our New Website! http://www.mvcacbs.org/. Dana Schessler (our webmaster) met several times over the winter with the web developer to insure the site is working as planned. Our vision for the website is to have the ability for the public to see who we are, and to use it as a means to keep our membership up to date more efficiently. Dana has recently included a Classified Section, Members Profile and Project Boat section. If you have any thoughts, suggestions or would like to contribute to our website please contact Dana (email@example.com).
Our first show will be at Lake St Louis Saturday May 20thwith boat launching beginning at 8:00 am. Dock hands will be available to help you launch if needed. The show opens at 9:00 am and the Lake St Louis Ski Team will again be cooking lunch as their fundraiser. The show will close at 4:00 pm with a boat parade around the lake (weather permitting). The Club Dinner/Picnic and a short membership meeting at the Pavilion will begin at approximately 5:30 pm once boats are out of the water. Club will provide the paper products and meat; donations will be accepted. PLEASE BRING 2 SIDES TO SHARE).
In preparations for the show and to insure safety please confirm that your boat lines, fenders, and lifejackets are present and in good working condition. This year, due to ACBS Event Insurance requirements, there will be a form for boats owners to complete who plan to launch their boats. The form is a standard ACBS Proof of Insurance Form that is used at all shows, a copy of the form and a Boat Owners Safety Check List is attached to this email. Also to help cover show costs we will be accepting a $5.00 donation per land and in-water display.
